seatbelt

Airbags and seatbelts are some of the most effective safety devices that have ever been invented. Over the decades that they have been installed in cars, they have been responsible for saving millions of lives. This equipment is not perfect, however.

Kaisk Chiropractic in Akron, OH, is here to explain. Read on to learn more.

What to Know About Airbags and Seatbelt Injuries

Airbags and seatbelts have to absorb a lot of the force from an auto accident to assure that the bodies of passengers in the car absorb those forces. While they prevent a lot of serious injuries and deaths, they also cause several injuries that, while not life-threatening, still need to be treated.

Whiplash and other types of a muscle strain are the most common types of injuries. Fortunately, these are the types of injuries that chiropractors deal with daily. A chiropractor will be able to simultaneously reduce the swelling of these muscles and move them back to their normal positions.

Chiropractors can do this by manipulating the muscles of the back, shoulders, and neck. A typical patient will be able to get some pain relief after the first session with the chiropractor, but it will usually take several weeks or months to achieve total pain relief. This is because each session will have to reduce the swelling of the muscles, then slowly move them back into place. At each session the muscles will move a tiny fraction, slowly alleviating the pain.

Chiropractic care is complementary to most modern medicine, so if you're currently being seen by a medical doctor for your auto accident injuries, it is possible for you to also see a chiropractor.
